My first day back to work was July 28, so C went up to Canada to pick up Avalanche from summer camp without me. When he got to his parents' house, he facetimed me to show me how Avalanche was running from door to door, searching for me! I've said it before, but those of you with lovey-dovey dogs might not understand how completely amazing this was for me...to see with my own eyes that he was looking for me gave me a high that I rode for days!

C managed to coax him up onto the couch, and for the first time ever, he was watching me in the phone and paying attention to my voice! Ahhhhhh! I love him so much! |

| we had a bad thunderstorm and he is terrified of them, so we pulled one of his beds into the laundry room and sat with him on the floor in there until it was over |

Finally, I'm pretty sure my mom paid us a visit a couple of weeks ago. We took Avalanche for a walk and at one point, I walked ahead and had C stop with Avalanche so I could take a picture of them together. The way we usually do this is I tell C to keep looking at the camera and I take multiple pics hope of getting one where Avalanche is also looking at the camera (this is by no means a guarantee LOL). A butterfly appeared and was flying around and circling Avalanche. I mean over and over and over; she would not leave Avalanche alone! And even though he is usually very oblivious to things happening around him (squirrels, bunnies, and deer can be right in front of him and he rarely notices or cares), he took note of the butterfly and you can see in this series of pictures how he's really paying attention to her. For so many reasons, this made my heart very happy that day!

I'll end with my two favorite pics from August!
The first is from when we were at the hotel. Avalanche opted to sleep right beside me all night...this is an exceptionally rare occurrence and NEVER happens at home!

| TBH, he didn't leave me much real estate, but teetering precariously on the edge of the bed all night was a small price to pay in exchange for having him beside me all night! |
The second is from when we went for a walk while visiting B2 and S2. Our nephew was on his little toddler bike while I walked behind everyone with Avalanche. Avalanche is generally a leisurely walker and stops every few feet whenever a scent piques his interest. At one point he and I stopped, and our nephew looked back to see where we were. I told him, "Avalanche likes to stop and smell things!" and do you know what this precious little boy did? He climbed off his tiny bike, walked back to where Avalanche and I were, and proceeded to crouch down beside Avalanche to also sniff the grass!
