We've done this twice before (admittedly with little success - you can read about those trips HERE and HERE), and we wanted to go before the no-dogs-on-the-beach policy kicked in on May 1.
I'm not going to lie...the first 15 or 20 minutes were not fun. Ginny kept trying to get back to car by pulling on her leash and refusing to walk, then shaking and generally being a nervous wreck, startled by any breeze or bird flying by.
We were determined to wait her out, though, so we just took turns holding her. As a general rule, she doesn't like being held and always squirms out of my arms at home. However, when she's afraid, it's a completely different story, and I was so happy to just to sit and hold her!
Finally, she settled down and not only seemed to actually enjoy being there, but even walked right along the water! Success! As you can see in the photos, the beach was pretty much deserted, the sun was shining, and it was an absolutely beautiful day!
10 states down and 40 to go!
