We got up super early to pack and check out before taking an uber to the airport. It was the first morning we didn't eat breakfast at our hotel, which has been a nice daily perk. We do have a Priority Pass that gets us into many airport lounges and/or pays for meals at airports, so we took advantage of that this morning to eat before our flight once we'd checked our bags.
We flew on LATAM airlines from Cartagena to Medellin and it took less than an hour. The boarding process was very smooth and the "jetway" felt like we were walking through a garden - an illusion broken when we had to climb the metal stairs to get on the plane! The flight attendants were great and we sat in Premium Economy, which came with priority boarding, free checked bags, and a guaranteed empty middle seat in our row, so it was an extremely pleasant travel experience!
As we approached Medellin, I was awestruck by the scenery out the window. Unfortunately the window was pretty dirty, so I don't have the best pictures, but it was absolutely stunning. Such a contrast to Cartagena! After we landed, we got our bags and took an uber to our hotel. The views during the drive were pretty spectacular!
The hotel check in process was not perfect - three of our credit cards were declined until we figured out it was their machine/connection causing the issue and everything was actually fine. Those several minutes of panic were not fun! We are staying at a Hampton Inn - nothing too fancy like the hotels in San Jose or Cartagena - but it has great views of the city!
We went out for a late lunch / early dinner and went to the grocery store to get some drinks and snacks, and I've got to say, Medellin seems wonderful so far. I'm excited to explore it over the next few days! There were storms late this afternoon, so we took advantage of the time in our hotel room to do some planning for future trips...no rest for the weary! LOL!
