Spring Break 2023: Liechtenstein

On two of our other trips trips to Europe, we've rented cars to drive into a neighboring country for the day: when we were in Barcelona, we rented a car for a day and drove to Andorra and when we were in Brussels, we rented a car for a day and drove to Luxembourg, both of which were nice little side trips! We did the same today and rented a car to drive into Liechtenstein!

We took the train from the city center out to the airport and we were immediately reminded how amazingly simple it is to rent a car in Europe. I'll ask again...why is it such a complicated and involved process in the U.S.?!?

C had rented a standard sedan, but the employee upgraded our car to an Audi A5 convertible, which is far too cool of a car for us! Nonetheless, it was super fun to drive around Liechtenstein in a great car with the top down!

What a beautiful place! We had a great day enjoying the sunshine and scenery, and while there isn't a border between the two countries, we did go to the visitor center and get stamps in our passports!

Returning the car to the airport was a breeze, and after taking the train back to the city center, we got to the hotel around 5:00 pm. It was a perfect way to spend our last full day of this awesome trip!

Spring Break 2023: Lucerne

We arrived in Lucerne by train on Wednesday afternoon and when we got to the hotel, we were informed that there was no power, so that was a fun discovery! We dropped our bags off and wandered around for a little while, got some lunch, and by the time we went back to the hotel around 5:00 pm, power had been restored. We stayed at a Radisson Blu near the train station, so it was conveniently located and made exploring the city very easy.

It rained almost all day on Thursday - not just a sprinkling, but a pretty heavy rain - so we went out just to get some food and then relaxed at the hotel until dinner time, when the sun came out for a little bit. It was nice to have a quiet day and then spend the evening roaming around! Lucerne is a beautiful city and definitely worth a return trip in the future!

We're now on the train to our last Swiss city of the trip - Zurich!
