Disneyland Paris: Day 3

On Friday morning, we slept in and then went over to California Grill for breakfast.  When we arrived at the restaurant, there was Pluto, waiting to take photos and sign autographs and NO ONE was waiting to meet him!  Unheard of!  Naturally I ran right over to take a photo of him and get a hug!  I have waited embarrassingly long amounts of time to meet him around WDW, so this type of unexpected and individual encounter was so great!

After breakfast, we headed over to Walt Disney Studios, which is the second theme park here.  We'd been keeping an eye on the wait time for the Ratatouille attraction, and since it was only posted as a 15-minute wait, we decided to make a beeline for it as soon as we got to the park.  Unfortunately, it was closed!  This seems to happen a lot and we're not quite sure why.  It is an amazing attraction and we did not want to miss it!  We decided to wander around the park for a while and hope that it eventually opened.

We went into the Toy Story Playland area and rode Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin.  Obviously I have a huge soft spot for Slinky!  I love Disney, I love dogs, I love Dachshunds…he is all three!  And it doesn’t hurt that he is super adorable!

Afterwards, we went to the Animagique Theater; we'd seen the Animagique show several times on previous visits, and loved it.  There is a new show in the theater, so we decided to go see it.  It's called "Mickey and the Magician."  It was okay.  It was kind of a mishmash of music from various movies – Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Frozen – and I was seated next to a lady who sang very loudly and enthusiastically – and off-key – throughout the entire show.  It was hard to enjoy the music with that happening in my right ear!

We were about to leave the park when we checked the time for Ratatouille and discovered it had just reopened, so we hurried over there as quickly as possibly.  We did not have much of a wait, which was great, because we've seen the standby time top 60 minutes on a regular basis.  It is a trackless, 3D ride and it is absolutely amazing!  Not only is the movie fantastic, but the soundtrack is just beautiful, so everything about this attraction gets an A++++++ from me.  Even the ride vehicles are cute!  I don’t have many photos from the area on this particular day because the weather was not great, but I do have some detailed ones in my post about our trip here in January 2016.

After Walt Disney Studios, we wandered around Disney Village for a little while to get some lunch.  We'd noticed that a lot of the McDonald's restaurants we've come across in Europe have a veggie burger, so we decided to try it.  As far as veggie burgers go, it was pretty good!  Get it together, American McDonald's!!!

After lunch, we went back to Disneyland.  The Christmas decorations in front of the train station were out and they were adorable (that area had been boarded off the previous day).  Everything is blue and silver because the park is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and it looks festive and magical all at once!

We went on Phantom Manor, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and then spent time looking in the shops and admiring the décor!  It was a little chilly, with light rain off and on throughout the evening, but the lack of crowds was very nice!

In addition to the Disneyland Hotel, there are a few other Disney resorts not too far from the parks, on the other side of Disney Village, so we decided to go and check them out after a late stop at Earl of Sandwich.  Hotel New York has an area that is a replica of Rockefeller Center, complete with an ice skating rink; Sequoia Lodge is similar to Wilderness Lodge; and Newport Bay Club is reminiscent of Yacht and Beach Club.  We stopped at the bar at Newport Bay Club, Captain's Quarters, for a drink, but to be honest, I like Café Fantasia much better!
