If you know me in person or even if you've been a reader of this blog for a while, you know that I have a pretty keen memory for dates. That is no longer the case. These past two years have really messed with my sense of time! How is tomorrow already April?!?
I didn't write a "Life Lately" post at the end of February because there wasn't much to report so I decided to just put February and March together! Despite feeling like I really didn't have things write about, we actually did quite a bit over the past two months!
Back at the beginning of February, we went to the Lunar New Year lantern celebration at the Kennedy Center. It was pretty great!
my mom is so adorable |
I have to renew my teaching license this year and I had to attend CPR training. On a Friday night. I understand how important the training is, but it wasn't really my idea of a fun Friday night activity!
I went to dinner and a concert with two of my best friends and our husbands and we had such a nice time! Just getting to hang out and be together felt like another little step toward life returning to normal!
I love these people! |
Valentine's Day was pretty uneventful because we unexpectedly had to replace our furnace, so that was our gift to each other. LOL!
Our 34th Valentine's Day together! |
We went to Shenandoah NP on Presidents' Day weekend and I was happy to find some snow! |
This was a fun day at school! |
B2 and S2 traveled out of the country, so we watched their dogs at our house for a week. Heaven! I loved having them with us!
At school, the requirements for masks were lifted, which marked the end of an era: wearing matching masks with one of my best friends! Three of these were completely coincidental; the Buzz and Woody masks were planned. :)
We did two puzzles which were super cute - a Disneyland version and a WDW version!
If you have Apple TV+, I absolutely recommend these! Ewan McGregor, travel, adventure...so fantastic! You will not be disappointed! I started off just loving Ewan McGregor, but by the end of the third series, I completely loved his best friend and the directors/producers of the show as well!
We went to two Steven Page shows in Maryland and D.C. and a Harry Potter exhibit in Philadelphia and I also went to a Disney trivia event with some friends from work (which was not very well run, but fun nonetheless!). We had some really beautiful days in March, and we spent one of them at Great Falls Park.
At school, we had the semi-finals for Battle of the Books (the kids did a great job and we're headed to the county finals next week!), our first Book Fair since the fall of 2019, and Math Night - all in one week!
After the beautiful weather, we had a freak snow "storm" last weekend. We'd gone for a walk and the forecast predicted possible light rain, but as you can see, it was a lot more than that!
chilly but no precipitation |
light rain |
snow |
more snow |
such bizarre weather |
there was also thunder! |
the hood of our car was covered |
then 30 minutes later... |
Our four-year old niece drew two pictures of herself with C and me. So cute!
look at C's hair :) the attention to detail! |
he's gone gray in this one, while she told me she drew "crazy hair" on herself and on me because "that's what we look like" :) |
I had a few entertaining conversations with kids at school!
this kid really wants me to get a cat |
so innocent and sincere! |
the pic in question, from 2014 |
I remembered there was a similar photo from our wedding in 1994! |
I had an eye appointment and my eyes were dilated, so I wore my sunglasses inside for a few hours after I returned to school |
One week ago, my mom had a really high fever and B1 ended up taking her to the emergency room. I met them there, and when she was finally taken back into a room, he headed home and I stayed, since only one family member was allowed in. We didn't see a doctor until almost 4:00 am, but they decided to admit her. Thankfully it turned out to be the flu (not that the flu is something I want anyone to get, but it was the least awful thing possible, so I was relieved that's what it was). She spent two nights in the hospital and B2 drove down from NY to spend a few days taking care of her when she was discharged. A collective effort and I am once again reminded how amazing my brothers are!
Finally, just a few miscellaneous things...
new boots for Kiss and Ride duty! |
such a perfect Galentine's Day card from one of my best friends (I love Johnny Lawrence so much!) |
one of my dearest friends gave me this "Adventure" sign, so we hung it above our picture of our favorite places we visited |
I'm still watching the birds and squirrels and still sending my niece and nephew a post card every day. These are simple things, but they make me happy. Also, April means Spring Break, so I'm excited about that!
Happy Tails to you!
