Obviously I am WAY behind on getting this post written, but November has already been a busy month and finding time to go through pictures and sit down to recap the month has been repeatedly pushed to the bottom of my to do list!
We took a little road trip to NJ and NY at the beginning of October...NJ to visit my 95-year old YaYa and NY to celebrate our nephew's first birthday. Any day when I can hug both of my brothers, both of my sisters, my niece, and my nephews is pretty much a perfect day in my opinion, so getting to also hug my dad and my Yaya? Life really doesn't get much better than that. We had originally planned to make it just a day trip, but ended up staying over night in a hotel so we could take Avalanche to Atlantic City on our drive home. He is always extremely well-behaved in hotels and as usual, he charmed the staff when we were checking in!
| I love these two so much |
| very interested in the hotel front desk |
why he thought this would be a good place to sleep, I'll never know |
we put his dog bed in between the two beds and he didn't make a peep all night...he is SUCH a good dog! |
| we went to this diner right near the hotel the next morning |
we shared this one blueberry pancake, which was absolutely enormous (coffee mug for scale) |
| I love the rest stops on the Garden State Parkway |
| her books were my entire childhood |
| he actually walked in the ocean water! |
| it was a beautiful day! |
We went to Annapolis to see my favorite singer, Steven Page, perform and as always, it was a fantastic show! His voice is my absolute favorite of any vocalist on the planet and I pretty much jump and any opportunity to see him in concert!
our seats were not a good as any of the other shows we've gone to, but I only care about hearing him sing! |
Schools were closed on October 22 in observance of Diwali, so I took advantage of the day off by making a vet appointment for Avalanche for his yearly check up. You may recall that last year, it was a huge ordeal and he had to be sedated, but everything went very smoothly this year and we were in and out in about 35 minutes! All of his bloodwork looks great, he got all of his vaccines, and when they weighed him, he was down to just under 67 pounds (last time he weighed 73 pounds) and Dr. T. said he looked amazing!
| very suspicious when we parked at the vet office |
| always trying to make a break for it |
we found a new-to-us park and went for a long walk after the vet |
| happy boy! |
We ended the month with a very quick road trip to Canada - we left just before midnight on Friday night, arrived at C's parents house just before 10:00 on Saturday morning, and we were on way home before 8:00 am on Sunday morning.
as we got close to C's parents' house, he recognized the neighborhood |
| making puppy eyes at his grandpa |
| look at that face |
| family is everything |
| we had a fantastic weather for our drive home |
As always, I've got a collection of Avalanche pics from the month:
| this handsome devil turned 14 on October 7! |
there's a dog park not far from our house but we only let him go in when it's empty... all he wants to do is a perimeter sweep LOL |
A few random memories from October:
| besties |
| a Lego Luxo, Jr. and Pixar Ball |
a sweet treat from the Reading Team at my school
we did our second puzzle night and this time it took us 90 minutes to finish it, but we still managed to get second place! |
| new Disney art in our kitchen |
one of my favorite memories from October... I attended some PD at my former school and a fifth grader, who was only a second grader when I last worked there, ran up to me, gave me a hug, pointed to my lanyard (yes, it's still he same one!) and said, "I remember you and I remember this! I don't remember your name, but I remember how nice you are!" and that sweet interaction made my entire month! |
While I know Game 7 of the World Series technically took place on November 1, I'm including it in this post because our entire month of October revolved around the MLB payoffs. As I've shared many times, I cheer for two teams: my Canadian team, the Blue Jays, and my American team, the Dodgers, so for them to meet in the World Series meant I would end up both elated and devastated. If was a great series, even though I was, and continue to be, completely heartbroken for the Blue Jays! We were in university just outside of Toronto when they won back-to-back championships in 1992 & 1993 and it was such an exciting run to experience! Obviously I'm extremely happy for my Dodgers, but I was really pulling for the underdogs this year!
there are the only two MLB player shirts I own and each of them was named the MVP of their respective championship series before facing each other in the World Series! |
| they are my two favorite baseball players! |
| I just adore them! |
| we will always love the Blue Jays! |
Happy Tails to you!
