Our second day of excursions was amazingly beautiful! Blue skies, cirrus clouds, and sunshine the entire time!
a perfect day!
The morning Zodiac cruise took us over to Port Lockroy, which is a historic British base in Antarctica that houses the southern most post office in the world (affectionately referred to as the "penguin post office." Due to restrictions about how many people can visit at one time, we weren't able to do a landing there, but it was still cool to see from the Zodiac! During our excursion, we also saw many Gentoo penguins, both on land and in the water, and a Weddell seal resting up on the snow! Our afternoon landing was great because not only was the scenery incredible, but we also got to see some Gentoo penguins up close (including one that waddled over pretty close to me - video clip below!).
very pleased to see a Pride flag at Port Lockroy!
the napping Weddell seal (there's also a short video clip below)

this Gentoo penguin was less than five feet from me!
took this pic at 11:00 pm!
how cute is this penguin?!?
still can't believe how fortunate we are to be here!
