Rio & Sao Paulo January 2026

We left Buenos Aires on Sunday and flew to Rio for two nights. As you'll see, I almost have zero photos of Rio because we really only had one day there (Monday) and the weather was pretty terrible. We wandered around a little bit, but we stayed at the Fairmont, so we didn't really mind just spending the day hanging out at the hotel!

We left Rio on Tuesday and flew to Sao Paulo for three nights. To be honest, I don't have many photos from there either because C was not feeling well on Wednesday and it was 94 degrees yesterday, so we only went out for a little while to explore. We also ended up changing rooms yesterday because our "neighbors" woke us up at 2:45 am with their noise and we ended up calling hotel security because it went on until after 4:00 am. Thankfully the hotel staff was very accommodating!

So even though we didn't do a ton of sightseeing in Sao Paulo, we took advantage of staying in another very nice hotel - the Grand Hyatt - and enjoyed the down time by reading, watching Celebrity Traitors UK, and plotting out our next couple of years of travel!

We're currently at the Sao Paulo airport (whose airport code is GRU, which I find very amusing!), waiting for our flight back to Atlanta, and now that the trip is winding down, the excitement about seeing Avalanche is amping up!
