Disneyland Paris: Day 5

Sunday was kind of a quiet day.  We got up early to go to breakfast because we had plans to go into Paris for the day and do some sightseeing, but the weather was pretty awful in the morning, so we decided to change our plans and just hang out at our hotel.  We also had plans to spend a day visiting the Palace of Versailles, and those plans were scrapped when we missed our first flight to Paris on Tuesday. We will have to see that on another trip!

The rain settled down somewhat, so we decided to head over to Walt Disney Studios around lunch time.  We rode Ratatouille and Slinky, and hoped to ride Tower of Terror, but the wait was 45 minutes and it had begun raining again, so we gave up on that idea and instead went to Disney Village to get some lunch at Earl of Sandwich.  On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at the train station to buy tickets for our trip back to the airport the next day.

There was another break in the weather a while later, and we took advantage of it to go back to Disneyland.  We rode Mad Hatter's Tea Cups and were about to go through Alice's Curious Labyrinth when the skies opened up and we had to take cover because it began hailing!  Yes!  HAIL!  How crazy!!!  In our many decades of visiting Disney Parks, never before have we experienced hail!  We hid along with some other people under a large hedge until it passed.  Quite the experience!  Once that ended, the skies cleared for good, and the rest of the afternoon and evening were cold, but dry!

We stopped off back at the hotel to dry off and warm up for a bit, then went back to Walt Disney Studios for the nighttime holiday show, "Goofy's Incredible Christmas!"  There were impressive projections on Tower of Terror, fireworks, lasers, and an accompanying stage show with characters.  It was super cute and also extremely impressive from a technological standpoint.  Definitely one of the highlights of the trip!

Also learned a fun fact…Goofy's name in French is Dingo!  I don't know why I find that sooooo hilarious, but I laugh whenever I think about it!

We had a late dinner at Five Guys in Disney Village before packing for our trip home, and then we ended our last night back at Café Fantasia.  So perfect!

Disneyland Paris: Day 4

On Saturday, we went to California Grill for a late breakfast, and we had an amazing view of Disneyland.  I found myself wishing that every day could begin with such a spectacular view and a pain au chocolat served on a Tinker Bell plate!

The weather was less than ideal, but the debut of the Christmas parade was happening at noon, so we bundled up and went over to Disneyland.  It turned out to be a cute parade and they made "snow" fall on Main Street, so that certainly added the holiday atmosphere!

After the parade, we went to the castle walk-through, which is awesome.  We first discovered this back in 2007 on our first visit and loved it, so we were disappointed it was closed when we came back in 2016.  It was just as fabulous as we remembered it! The dragon in the dungeon of the castle is amazing, and the view of Fantasyland from the second story balcony of the castle is amazing!

The rain really started coming down, so we rode the train all the way around, which provided some different perspectives of the park!  We decided to head back to the hotel and rest while we waited for some of the bad weather to pass by, and when we got to our room, a surprise was waiting for us from the hotel - little bite-size sponge cakes with candied pistachios, complete with a card that had a quote from Ratatouille on it! How nice!  I also FaceTimed with Maddy, which was the best!

By the time the weather had finally improved, we were ready to find some dinner.  We went over to Disney Village and of all places, there is a Five Guys there!  Just about the same as at home, but the potatoes were from The Netherlands instead of Washington or Idaho!

After dinner, we returned to Disneyland, went on Phantom Manor, Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast, and Star Tours before watching Disney Illuminations again.  I am notoriously terrible at Buzz Lightyear attractions. Bordering on completely incompetent.  So you can bet I was pretty excited to outdo my best previous score many times over! After the fireworks, I was able to get super close to the castle and take some photos of the colored fountains at the end of the show, and then once that finished, they lit up the Christmas lights on the castle.  So pretty!

The last stop of the night was Café Fantasia once again…I would hang out there every night if I could!
