Today is a day for celebrating all things American!
Being an immigrant and a naturalized citizen, I have often reflected on
what makes someone “American.” In the
literal sense, it means being born in this country or choosing to become a
citizen. In the figurative sense,
though, I see the definition of “American” as far more complex: Americans are determined, hard-working, creative, and compassionate.
When I think about how much has been accomplished
in a very short few hundred years, I consider the initiative and ingenuity of the
American people truly remarkable. There have
been countless innovative minds that have helped shape this nation, but one
thing I believe they all have in common is imagination – the ability to dream
what has yet to be seen.
One Little Spark
from Epcot’s Journey Into Imagination
One little spark, of inspiration
Is at the heart, of all creation.
Right at the start, of everything that's new.
One little spark, lights up for you.
Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow.
Horns of a steer, but a lovable fellow.
From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment.
And there, voila! You've got a Figment!
So many times,
we're stumbling in the dark,
and then, Eureka!
What a spark!
We all have sparks, imaginations.
That's how our minds, create creations.
Right at the start of everything that's new
One little spark lights up for you.
Imagination, imagination.
A dream, can be a dream come true.
With just that spark, in me and you!
