Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Walt Disney’s first
full-length animated feature and it premiered 77 years ago today, on December
21, 1937. This was an amazing
achievement for its time and according to Box Office Mojo, when adjusted for
inflation, it is the tenth highest-grossing movie of all time!
Now that we have had seven dogs, we can relate each of them
to the seven dwarfs pretty easily:
Doc – Chelsea; Grumpy – Molly; Bashful – Gunni; Happy
– Maddy; Dopey – Ginny; Sleepy – Duchess; and Sneezy – Sadie. As with the seven dwarfs, their personalities
provide endless entertainment!
The soundtrack is good, but not one I listen to on a consistent basis. This song, however, is beautiful! And the scene in the film where this song is featured may or may not be responsible for my long-held belief as a child that I could speak to animals. :-)
With a Smile and a Song
from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
With a smile and a song
Life is just like a bright sunny day
Your cares fade away
And your heart is young
With a smile and a song
All the world seems to waken anew
Rejoicing with you
As the song is sung
There's no use in grumbling
When raindrops come tumbling
Remember, you're the one
Who can fill the world with sunshine
When you smile and you sing
Everything is in tune and it's spring
And life flows along
With a smile and a song
Music by Frank Churchill
Lyrics by Larry Morey
Happy Tails to you!
