On Friday, June 17, my mom and I went to see Ringo Starr and
his All Starr Band at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC. She's been a huge
fan of The Beatles since she was very young, and passed that love on to me
early in my life. Ringo has always and
forever been her favorite Beatle!
What a complete thrill to see Ringo Starr in person! Although there were not nearly enough
Beatles' songs for my liking, it was a FABULOUS show – and let's be real…is
there even such a thing a "enough" Beatles' songs?!?!?
It is hard to believe the man is almost 76 years old! He was charming and funny and kindly gave up
the spotlight for the other members of the band to play their hits from years
gone by ("Kyrie Eleison" and "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister,
and "Rosanna" and "Africa" by Toto, among many others). Highly entertaining from start to finish!
The highlight of the show was "Yellow Submarine,"
but the highlight of the night was sharing the experience with my mom as she
watched her idol perform. She was transported back to her teenage years and did not stop smiling the entire night! Magical!
Happy Tails to you!
