Lovely Lyrics: Bless Us All

Merry Christmas!

Bless Us All
from The Muppet Christmas Carol

Life is full of sweet surprises
Everyday's a gift
The sun comes up and I can feel it lift my spirit
Fills me up with laughter
Fills me up with song
I look into the eyes of love and know that I belong

Bless us all, who gather here
The loving family I hold dear
No place on earth, compares with home
And every path will bring me back from where I roam
Bless us all, that as we live
We always comfort and forgive
We have so much, that we can share
With those in need we see around us everywhere

Let us always love each other
Lead us to the light
Let us hear the voice of reason, singing in the night
Let us run from anger and catch us when we fall
Teach us in our dreams and please, yes please
Bless us one and all

Bless us all with playful years,
With noisy games and joyful tears.
We reach for you and we stand tall,
And in our prayers and dreams
We ask you bless us all

Lovely Lyrics: One More Sleep 'Til Christmas

Wishing all of you a merry...

Get it?  :-)

One More Sleep 'Til Christmas
from The Muppet Christmas Carol

There magic in the air this evening
Magic in the air
The world is at her best, you know
When people love and care
The promise of excitement is one the night will keep
After all, there's only one more sleep ‘til Christmas

The world has got a smile today
The world has got a glow
There's no such thing as strangers when
A stranger says "hello"
And everyone is family, we're having so much fun
After all, there's only one more sleep ‘til Christmas

'Tis the season to be jolly and joyous
With a burst of pleasure, we feel it all right
'Tis the season when the saints can employ us
To spread the news about peace and to keep love alive

There's something in the wind today
That's good for everyone
Yes, faith is in our hearts today
We're shining like the sun
And everyone can feel it, the feeling's running deep
After all, there's only one more sleep ‘til Christmas

After all, there's only one more sleep ‘til Christmas day

Christmas Ornaments

Many of our Christmas tree decorations are the "ears" ornaments, and since I think they are adorable, I thought you might, too!  The photos show the front and the back of each ornament.  (I apologize for the picture quality - these are already on the tree and for some of them I was forced to crouch on the ground or stand on my tiptoes!)

Princesses:

Snow White

 Cinderella

 Aurora

 Ariel

 Belle

 Jasmine

 Rapunzel

 Tiana

Other Characters:

Mary Poppins

 Alice

 Winnie the Pooh

 Tigger

 Eeyore

 Lady and the Tramp

 EVE and WALL-E

Parks:

Walt Disney World

 Disneyland

 Parks Around the World

Royal Mickeys:

These two are not exactly the same type of "ears" ornaments, but they match our Mickey Nutcrackers perfectly!

Detergent Disaster

So I had a bit of a comical disaster happen today.  I had two large jugs of laundry detergent that I planned to donate to the local animal shelter.  I decided to put them in the back of my car along with some other supplies I had purchased this morning, with the intention of dropping everything off tomorrow.

I had both hands full as I went from my laundry room to the garage and as a result, I could not pull the door closed behind me.  I was sure the dogs would stay in the kitchen because we'd just been outside and they knew it was raining and had shown little interest in anything other than their beds and blankets in the kitchen.  Big mistake.  Maddy came running out, almost tripping me.  Between being caught off guard and trying to stay upright, I dropped one of the jugs.  Of course the plastic cracked open and laundry detergent went everywhere.

That was my secondary concern, though, because without me out in the driveway to supervise her, Maddy seized the opportunity to run across the road where she had spotted our neighbors' chickens walking around.  I chased after her as she ran all over our neighbors' lawn, barking her head off, and I shooed her back to our yard (thank goodness we live up on a hill on a cul-de-sac, so there is rarely any traffic).  She knew she was in trouble, so she turned around, ran at me and then past me, and hightailed it toward the garage.

I then realized that she was about to run right through the detergent seeping all over the garage floor – and because she is also very low to the ground, I knew it wouldn't only be her feet, but also her chest and belly (which were soaking wet due to the wet ground and grass) that would end up covered in the detergent.  So I ran toward the house after her, calling her name in a crazed, high-pitched voice to try and keep her out of the garage.  I was not successful.

Surprisingly, she was clever and fairly athletic (if you knew her, you'd appreciate why I was surprised with her athleticism) and she avoided almost all of the detergent by leaping over an area that the detergent hadn't completely covered yet.  She still tracked wet, muddy, sticky/soapy footprints through the kitchen, but it could have been much worse – especially if the other three dogs had decided to follow her, which they didn't.  Christmas miracle.

The garage was (and still is) a huge mess – I tried to sop up the detergent with countless paper towels, but it seemed like the detergent was just eating the paper towels as quickly as I could put them down.  The detergent splattered all over the side of our car, which I backed out of the garage to tackle the detergent all over the garage floor – as you can see, the detergent went from clear to purple, which I cannot explain.  The best part of the entire experience was how I repeatedly almost bit the dust because everywhere I walked when I was trying to clean up the mess was super slippery.  Hours later, it is now funny to me, but at the time, it was a very frustrating chain of events!

the detergent dissolving the paper towels like nobody's business

why clear detergent turned purple is a mystery

Lovely Lyrics: With a Smile and a Song

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Walt Disney’s first full-length animated feature and it premiered 77 years ago today, on December 21, 1937.  This was an amazing achievement for its time and according to Box Office Mojo, when adjusted for inflation, it is the tenth highest-grossing movie of all time!

Now that we have had seven dogs, we can relate each of them to the seven dwarfs pretty easily:
Doc – Chelsea; Grumpy – Molly; Bashful – Gunni; Happy – Maddy; Dopey – Ginny; Sleepy – Duchess; and Sneezy – Sadie.  As with the seven dwarfs, their personalities provide endless entertainment!

The soundtrack is good, but not one I listen to on a consistent basis.  This song, however, is beautiful!  And the scene in the film where this song is featured may or may not be responsible for my long-held belief as a child that I could speak to animals.  :-)

With a Smile and a Song
from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

With a smile and a song
Life is just like a bright sunny day
Your cares fade away
And your heart is young

With a smile and a song
All the world seems to waken anew
Rejoicing with you
As the song is sung

There's no use in grumbling
When raindrops come tumbling
Remember, you're the one
Who can fill the world with sunshine

When you smile and you sing
Everything is in tune and it's spring
And life flows along
With a smile and a song

Lovely Lyrics: It Feels Like Christmas

This song is from one of my favorite Christmas movies; not only do I watch the movie every holiday season, but I also listen to the soundtrack from Thanksgiving until Christmas each year.

This Christmas, I have a new kind of love in my life – a sister.  I am sure I would have liked any person my brother married, but he really hit the jackpot.  And so did I.  Because I love, love, love my new sister!

I don’t know how this happened, but she had not seen Frozen, so we made plans to watch it together a few weeks ago.  Hanging out with her and watching a movie about the love between sisters made me appreciate the movie all over again (after I what I admit was some Frozen fatigue).

On the way home, I listened to this song and I could very much relate to the lyrics, “wherever you find love, it feels like Christmas.”  I love this girl and am so lucky to call her my sister.

It Feels Like Christmas
from The Muppet Christmas Carol

It's in the singing of a street corner choir
It's going home and getting warm by the fire
It's true, wherever you find love,
It feels like Christmas

A cup of kindness that we share with another
A sweet reunion with a friend or a brother
In all the places you find love,
It feels like Christmas

It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear

It is the season of the spirit
The message if we hear it
Is 'Make it last all year!'

It's in the giving of a gift to another
A pair of mittens that were made by your mother
It's all the ways that we show love
That feel like Christmas

A part of childhood we'll always remember
It is the summer of the soul in December
It's when you do your best for love,
It feels like Christmas

It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear

It is the season of the spirit
The message if we hear it
Is 'Make it last all year!'

It's in the singing of a street corner choir
It's going home and getting warm by the fire
It's true, where ever you find love,
It feels like Christmas

It's true, wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
