Land of the Rising Sun: Day 7

Thursday, April 13

Before I write anything else, let me say that my lukewarm feelings about Tokyo DisneySea yesterday were replaced with a complete sense of awe today.  This park is amazing!  We only saw about half of the park yesterday, so that's why I was hesitant to even write about it yesterday.  After seeing the rest of the park today, I have only the most complimentary thoughts to share!  The theming is unbelievable!

Tokyo DisneySea

We took advantage of that early 15 minute entry into the park again today and went straight to the Journey to the Center of the Earth attraction.  Well, almost.  We got most of the way there and then had to wait with our fellow guests for "rope drop" into that section until the park officially opened at 9:00 am.  We'd read some very good things about this attraction, and it did not disappoint!  We liked it so much that we got fast passes to come back and ride it again later in the morning.

Next up was Mermaid Lagoon and it was at this point that I really fell in love with Tokyo DisneySea.  I felt like we'd stepped right into The Little Mermaid!  LOOK at these photos!!!  The entire area was stunning!  I immediately thought, "THIS is what I was waiting for...here's the Disney magic of the park!"

After Mermaid Lagoon, we went to Arabian Coast, and again I was blown away by how beautiful it was!  We rode the two-story carousel - and yes, I did ride the Genie! - and went to the Magic Lamp Theater for a very cool 3D show.

So cute!

I will never be too old to ride the carousel!

Really impressive effects and animation!

We spent a few more hours just roaming the park, and I actually saw someone using one of the Duffy Photo Points!  I am still shocked by how many people - adults - carry one, two, three, or more stuffed animals around the park with them!  No judgment from me, but it is surprising because you don't typically see that in the U.S. parks.  I spotted a Duffy Photo Point early in the day and took a photo of my Tinker Bell tsum tsum on it just for fun.  Later in the day, I saw a lady posing her Duffy for a photo, and she was extremely serious and particular about it.  I tried to be sly about taking a photo of it from the side because I didn't want her to think I was a creeper!  No one else paid her the slightest bit of attention, so clearly this really is a common custom here!

Disney theming is amazing!

We took a break during the afternoon before heading to Tokyo Disneyland for the rest of the night.  It was that perfect time of day for photos, so we spent quite a bit of time wandering around.  In doing so, we happened upon Cinderella's Fairy Tale Hall, and I am SO glad we did!  It's a walk-through of Cinderella Castle and everything about it is complete perfection.

Easter decor is everywhere right now!

Magic ahead!

At long last, after sleeping through Monday evening, and cancellations on Tuesday and Wednesday, we were finally able to see Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights!  I've written before about what Baroque Hoedown means to us, so hearing that music brought tears to my eyes.  And the floats?  Fabulous!!!

So happy we were finally able to see this!

Magical!

Our last few hours were spent riding Haunted Mansion, Castle Carrousel, and Peter Pan's Flight - multiple times! - and eating snacks.  We tried another unusual popcorn flavor:  Soy Sauce and Butter!  Sounds gross, but tastes delicious!

It really was delicious!

When the park closed, we slowly made our way to the exit, and I cried having to say goodbye for now.  We are already planning on a return visit because our time here was just too short to experience everything!  Three of the attractions we had most wanted to see were closed for refurbishment: Pirates of the Caribbean, Pooh's Hunny Hunt, and "it's a small world," so just those are reason enough to come back here!

Saying a final good night to Cinderella Castle!

We ended the night with a toast to a fantastic first visit to the Tokyo Disney Resort at Dreamers Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel.  A perfect end to a magical visit!  Tomorrow, it's back to Tokyo!

A toast to a fabulous visit!
