Until next time, Tokyo Disneyland! |
Today was the dreaded check-out day...a day I dislike anytime I have to leave a Disney hotel! We noticed from our window that the crowds started gathering to enter the park rather early and that there were many more people than we'd seen on any of the other mornings. We had read that the weekends, including Fridays, were exceptionally busy, which is why we checked in on a Monday and were checking out on a Friday. Given all of the people lined up for Tokyo Disneyland before it even opened, I'm so glad we were able to time our visit to happen during the week!

I will miss this lobby! |
Once we finished packing, we left our luggage with Bell Services and then went off to do a little exploring. I mentioned that we visited the other other two hotels on the monorail line, but there is actually another Disney hotel about 15 minutes away from the resort, called Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. It's similar to the Value Resorts at WDW and it opened last fall. We took a shuttle over and while it is very simple in terms of the actual structures (there are two buildings), the lobbies were absolutely beautiful! Very colorful, and in the style of Mary Blair! I kept thinking, "Where can I buy these curtains to put in our house?" and "Why don't they sell these chairs?" I would love these teacup chairs in our family room!

After visiting Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel, we took the shuttle back to Ikspiari (Downtown Disney) to grab some lunch before picking up our luggage and taking the train back into Tokyo. I really am very impressed with the public transportation here!
Once we got to Tokyo Station, it felt a little like we were on the Amazing Race because the station serves the rail lines and the subway, with more than 20 tracks and what felt like a million escalators! AND so many people! AND we don't speak Japanese! I could imagine someone narrating our effort to switch train lines in a pitiful voice as we squinted at signs and looked around with what I'm sure were not-so-bright looks on our faces. However, after getting turned around only once, we successfully found the second train! Oh, the feeling of accomplishment!!!

Seriously...the signs in Japan are the best! |

Goodbye, Tokyo Disney Resort! |

We checked in to our hotel, whose first elevator has three floor stops: 1, 3, and 25! The lobby of the hotel is on the 25th floor (it sits atop an office building), and from there we took a different elevator to the 29th floor to get to our room. The view is unbelievable! We ended the day with some window shopping and dinner in Tokyo. More tourist stops on tomorrow's agenda!
