Asian Adventure 2020: Day 5

Today was amazing! We woke up at 4:00 am for a 4:35 pick-up from our hotel by the boat tour company to drive us out to the marina. We met with the tour operators and waited as other guests arrived, and got on the boat around 6:00 am while it was still pitch black out. It was so quiet and there were so many stars in the sky that I had a feeling the day was going to be unforgettable!

The tour took us about an hour out from the mainland to visit the Phi Phi Islands. On our way, we stopped in the middle of the Andaman Sea so we could watch the sunrise and it was absolutely incredible. We were served breakfast on the beach, then spent the entire morning going to numerous beaches where we could swim, snorkel, and relax. Our last stop was just after noon, where we were given a buffet lunch, and they specially made five huge vegetarian dishes just for us! We were speechless!

We returned to the marina around 2:00 pm and were driven back to our hotel. What a perfect day! At one point, one of our tour guides approached us and asked if we wanted her to take pictures for us because she thought we were on our honeymoon...and if we can appear to a stranger to be on our honeymoon when we've really been married for 25 years, I guess we are doing something right!

Way back in 2005, we went to Dry Tortugas National Park and that day is what I imagine when I close my eyes when I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed...it is a memory that always brings me a sense of calm when I think about the beautiful turquoise water and the palms trees swaying in the breeze. I suspect from now on, the memories of that day will be replaced with those we collected today!

Happy Tails to you!
