We got up early and walked over to the car rental place place, which took about 20 minutes, and as has been our experience when renting a car in a foreign country, the process was quick and simple! We rented a Toyota Corolla, which was more than sufficient, but it ended up having one major flaw - it didn't come with a usb charging port! We had a portable battery, so we we're worried about power, but despite having a pretty nice screen available, there was no way to connect to it to for navigation purposes! Not a huge deal, but I did have to navigate while C drove, which I guess turned out to be a good thing, not only because I took in a lot of beautiful scenery instead of napping, but also because both of us were paying attention when everything is opposite to what we're used to! We rented a car in Ireland ten years ago when we spent more than a week there and drove all over the island, and obviously they drive on the left, so C had a little bit of experience, but it still felt a bit unnatural!
As you can see in the pics, the coast is absolutely gorgeous! Some of the beaches had lots of visitors and others were pretty much empty, but at every place we stopped, the views were stunning. We ate lunch at Noosa Beach and eventually made our way to the Gold Coast, another wonderful coastal area outside of Brisbane, because C found a place there that he knew I would love. If you know me, you know I am a huge fan of the Bee Gees and there is a tribute to them in Redcliffe, so we went to see it! It was pretty great - fantastic photos and art, along with a screen that played music videos and interview clips. From 7:00-9:30 each night, the area is lit up and Bee Gees music is played loudly for guests to enjoy, and I honestly loved every second of it!
We drove back to Brisbane and returned the car around 8:00 (they offered after-hours drop off), then walked back to our hotel to pack, since tomorrow we're finally to our fourth and final Australian city!
Happy Tails to you!
