30 in 30: Day 14

We continued on with our Alaskan adventure today and drove from Denali NP to Fairbanks!

only 4 hours of "night"

Last night, we went outside and wandered around the lodge after the rain subsided, and these pics were taken between 11:30 and 11:55 pm. Imagine how light the sky would have been without the storm clouds! It doesn't ever really get dark; there is some light in the sky throughout the entire night! So strange! It's a weird feeling when it seems like it's about 6:00 pm and you check your phone and it's 9:45 pm!

We checked out this morning and drove to Fairbanks, which is the second-most northern location we've ever stayed! The most northern location we've stayed is Akureyri, Iceland, on our first trip there in 2008 when we explored all over the island. During our two subsequent trips to Iceland, we stayed in Reykjavik, which is slightly more southern than Fairbanks, if you can believe it!

The drive took a little more than two hours, and after we got some lunch (honestly some of the most amazing pizza we've ever had - and definitely better than some of the pizza we had in Italy!), we went to the Culture and Visitor Center, got ice cream on the recommendation of S1, who lived in Fairbanks, and then drove to Chena Hot Springs because we had tickets to their Aurora Ice Museum.

All in all, a great afternoon, but the best part? WE SAW ANOTHER MOOSE! I was over the moon!

majestic!

Happy Tails to you!
